Well, had the party, and a hell of a party it was. Turns out I shouldn't have been quite so worried about people showing up, even though the time wasn't pinned down real exactly before hand. Did have people showing up through the entire event, but that was no big deal.

Cia and Camille showed up first. I finally got to show Cia how the seeds I got on Debreth are doing. Took her and Cami on a tour of the garden, and Camille got me a Rimpon tree, which is lovely. Camille had tied all these little green and gray ribbons around it too. Matariki introduced me to Rimpon at the Gate. Good, though a bit tart. Cia's present was this beautiful sort of stole. It's blue-green with silver, and I can't wait to wear it with one of the dresses I got. I guess the same dress maker - Odille - helped pick it out even.

Anyway, after I showed them around, we headed up, party started, guests started arriving. The setup - the platform - really turned out great. First time I felt like a spirits-damned podder. First time it really hit me, the kinda shit these people do all the time. I mean, I knew before, but I didn't really understand the kinds of things that are possible, deep down. Goes to show what a great job the crew did on the place I guess.

Journal 4/25/11

Hit the Gate for the first time in a while. Saw a podder playing Verone's piano - Hitome Kei - she was really pretty good. Verone's good too, but variety's the spice of life right? Plus, he's a pretty busy guy most times. Anyway, it was nice to be back in the Gate. I know I'm not, you know. I'm not a Gurista anymore. I look at a lot of the people there though, the normals and the Veto podders and all and it's nice to remember. Oh! And I invited Hitome to my birthday party, maybe she'll perform if I can convince someone to drag the piano up.

Speaking of, I know where it's going to be now, and I hope I can get a few people other than crew to attend on such short notice. The crew, really, were the ones who decided. Anjell - Major Alestus Anjell (and you can see why we just call him by his last name) -really came up with the idea. The setup they're planning is pretty nuts. They've hung up a platform, this huge platform, made out of hull patchs or something? Anyway, hung it up way, way above the main hangar deck on the Ideal. They surprised me with it, even though they aren't done setting it up yet. They're talking about Where they're gonna put the bar and I think I even heard someone mention moving the Peace - that's the Nightmare - closer. Anjell has such a sense of the dramatic. Should be a great party. Just worry I shouldn't have waited so long announcing the exact time.

Went to the Athena today. hadn't been in a while and I thought I would see if they still had that bottle of Hak'len that Silver gave them. They did, as it happens. I forget, sometimes, how it tastes. It isn't good, really. Still I miss it, and I do like to drink it, now and then. seems like I want it more lately than I have in a while. Reminds me of home, maybe. Decent company there. New people, bunch of Gallente types. Still, I don't mind, and they were welcoming enough. I'll have to go back sometime. Maybe take Cia along, if it's safe. Might be nice for her, being around other pilots from the Federation. Think I'll hold my birthday party the 25th. I'll just have to figure exactly where.

Investigation is going alright, think we have it narrowed down to one system. Coming up on make or break time. Either it dead ends here and we are pretty well fucked, or we manage to crack this thing and do what we can to make sure it doesn't happen again. Ever. Going to head back to the Ideal soon, should be easy to work from there, considering how close the system we're looking at is. I'm sure Sarakai will be relieved.

Journal 4/23/11

Well, the investigation continues. Looks like we might be closing in, if the whole damn thing doesn't just dead end. Still, Tanith is operating with his usual efficiency, and things are looking up, I hope. I have been getting steadily more urgent messages from Sarakai, so I might need to go back soon. Won't be a problem most likely, since it's looking like the trail leads to home territory anyway.

Visited the Gate and heard a girl named Hitome Kei on that big clear piano of Verone's. She was pretty good. Nice to get away for an evening, too. Oh, and I still need to plan my party sometime soon. I've already been 37 for near two weeks now.

Journal 4/21/11

We back-tracked where the attack came from as far as we could and I decided to go myself and see what I could find out. We found out that the attack was probably facilitated by a couple of employees of a small manufacturing firm here on the station. Chasing it past that is going in a direction I'm not liking, but I'll have to wait and see what Tanith finds out. So far it looks like the people who actually own the firm are pretty clueless and the people who are involved have fled the station. Not that it will help them. It is good to see Cia on the mend, though I think she is nervous about taking that final step into a jump clone so her body can heal up.

Now I've got a pile of paperwork to go through from the Ideal, since I've been away so long. Sounds like Sarakai is managing alright as temporary XO, even if it does mean Silver has to do some actual work for once.

Journal 4/20/11

Well, Ciarente is out of the hospital and back on her ship. I'm sure Nerila is taking good care of her too, license problem or no. Really need to do something about that, maybe see if there are any contacts I can still work in the Syndicate, it is stupid that a piece of paper would be such a big deal. Anyway, Cia is out, and well on her way to being better. Camille is back with her too.

That little girl was a handful and a half, but still, I'm going to miss her a little bit. She reminded me of myself at that age a bit, only a touch more agressive maybe. Sharp as a tack though, and energetic. Her martial arts instructor is even talking about getting her in a tournament maybe in a few months. Seems like she is enjoying school too, in a way.

The investigation is still pretty slow. I'm thinking about taking a more direct hand. I'm not good at sitting on the sidelines waiting. Still, should get an update from Tanith soon.

Journal 4/18/11

Well, Cia's awake, and the doctors seem to think she'll pull through alright, thank the spirits. The investigation is progressing, if slowly. Got a couple leads we're following up. Camille is quite a handful, between wanting a laser and all the questions she asks. Just making sure she does her homework and keeping her out of trouble is a full time job, I don't know how Cia manages. I guess the nannies help.

I'd mentioned to Tanith in passing that Camille has shown an interest in Mordu's Legion, and he and his bunch got her a jacket with their old unit patch on it, seems like she really likes it. I guess they have been pretty impressed with her all around, between getting to that shuttle port on her own and how she's handled the attack and everything else. Hell, I'm pretty impressed myself. Talked to Cia's doctor too, he seems like he knows his shit. Things would be looking up all round if I had any idea who was responsible.

On the corporate front, Exalted. took down a Wyvern class mothership and then followed it up with a carrier today. We weren't there for the Wyvern, but Silver was part of the group that attacked the carrier. Even after all this time that kinda stuff gets him a little bent out of shape.

Journal 4/15/11b

Arrived at the station. Camille is fine, but Cia... Well, she looked bad, real bad. From what I could piece together I guess she was thrown against a wall, by someone in power armor. The doctors thought it was a fall from a couple of floors up, at first. The way the injuries looked, I don't know. They say it is still up in the air. Head injuries are tricky. The usual cop outs, just in case, covering their damn asses. When I saw her lying there in that bed, unconscious, maybe forever...

I've had plenty of people I know get injured. Killed. Part of being a marine right? Cia, though, she's no marine. She wouldn't hurt a fly that bit her. Things like this, they shouldn't happen to people like her. That's what people like me are for, isn't it? Well, I'll find whoever did this and make damn sure they don't do it again.

Pulled Camille out of the hospital, got a suite at a hotel nearby where we can stay while Cia is recuperating. I've never been religious, the way Silver or Kasa are, and I don't know how much my ancestors and I are still on speaking terms, but my prayers will be with her tonight.

Journal 4/15/11

Some asshole attacked Ciarente and her sister. I'm going to find them and... For now I'm on my way to the station to see the two of them. Vik said Cia was pretty badly injured, I hope she'll pull through alright. Got Safe and Sound on their way too, to help with the investigation. There were a few of their people already on-station, but they were just keeping an eye on things in general. Cia's close-in security was supposed to be more than competent, some people of Vikarion's. Guess it wasn't enough. Hopefully I'll know more when I get there.

Journal 4/4/11

Hell of a lot has happened, I hardly know where to start. We're finally out of Delve, for one thing. No more fedos either. I didn't ask too many questions, since Akrad and Anjell got the job done. That's good enough for me, and if we have more antimatter on requisition than normal, well, it's hardly a bit compared to how much Silver uses most days anyway. The smell is starting to clear out too, thank the ancestors. After this, I've had teams go through the new ships with a fine toothed comb. The Hurricanes in particular. Luckily our new operations station is Impro, and the Jove run a pretty tidy place. Not that I have anything against a little grunge here and there, but I might scream if I have to smell another fedo in the next week or two.

Before we left Delve, aside from the fedos, managed to take care of at least a couple of other things as well. Tests came back on the remains we found near the fedo-infested illicit supply cache. Crewman Atemer Ishugur, formerly of the Republic Navy. Brutor, Tallinir clan, from somewhere around Hek. We hired him last time we were in the Republic, he was one of the survivors from the Utopian Guardian who stayed on after she was destroyed. Now, gets trickier. We still aren't sure what killed him, though Medical has mentioned some suspicious bruising on some bones, there was't much soft tissue by the time we got the fedos off him. We have confirmed - at least from what we could find after the fedos - that he was the one building the supply cache. There was some, small, traceable evidence recovered. Finally, we managed to check his accounts. 20000 isk in one of them. Now, Silver pays well, yeah, but not that well. Something else was going on. Why was he stockpiling the items? We are still conducting a full inventory to see what all might have been hidden, but so far it looks like mostly food, which doesn't make a lot of sense. Plus, he didn't have the access to jigger the sensors that helped hide what he was doing. All of which means a headache for me. Still need to figure out why, and need to figure out if we have had a security breach from the outside, or if someone else - with more access - has been bought too. Still, it is progress I guess.

In good news, we got the crew that were disappearing at the blooder station back. Reintroduced limited leave while we were still on-station in Delve, and had NCOs keep an eye on the crew, and always in groups, with a description of the woman from the previous incidents. Same bitch showed up a day or two later, tried to work her charms on one of the Petty Officers from down in engineering. Now, analysis indicated most of the crew we were losing were low ranking, but had special skills. We had a volunteer, Gunnery Sergeant Demen Jadat - guy is actually a cyberknight back in Khanid, honest to god nobleman, though here he is just a gunny - to act like a reactor tech, slapped a engineering uniform on him with Chief Petty Officer all over his collar, and ran him down to the bar. He went along with the woman. We had a tracker on him just in case, since we figured they had been drugging our people. Plan was he goes, comes back the next day, and tells us what happened. Being a cyberknight he is engineered to metabolize most drugs pretty quickly apparently. Anyway, we monitor where they take him, and he strolls back the next day, and get this - goes straight to his quarters to start packing up his shit! Well, we grab him, ask him a few questions, he just seems confused. So we toss him in medical. They test for drugs, everything, don't find anything except traces of a sedative, worn off since last night for sure. Do a scan, and find a Transcrannial Microcontroller. I mean, hell, who'da thought? We're supposed to be the ones sticking the implants into people, aren't we?

Long story short, we have our people look at it, I even called Silver down, since he's a bit of an expert in that kinda stuff. Once we get all the info we can out of it, we re-program it to not do anything except sit there and look like it is still working. Then we send Jadat back in, with a tactical squad for backup. Want our dear little blooders to think everything is just fine. So Jadat strolls back in, bag over his shoulder, like he hasn't got a care in the world. Pair of big brass ones on that boy. Anyway, strolls back to where the chip was telling him to meet up with his new friends, they grab him, herd him along. They put him in a holding area way down in the maintenance area of the station. He starts a ruckus on the inside, the tac squad blows down the front door, and spirits spit on my soul if most of the missing crew weren't in there with him. All looking a bit blank and livestock-like with the chips still working on them, but alive and well. Killed most of the blooders, though we grabbed a couple to interrogate. Had a squad hit the place where the tracker said they had taken Jadat the night before too, they found a rigged up implant surgery suite, and grabbed a couple of doctors. Gets a bit weird there, apparently one of the doctors is a known Cartel associate. Important thing is we got our people back.

Turns out the whole thing was a slaving operation. Shanghai crew, put the TCMC in to keep them obedient. Have them go back to their ship and pick up all their stuff so it just looks like a desertion, and sell them to the highest bidder. Well trained crew can bring a bit on that market apparently, and most times need something like a TCMC anyway, when you are looking to buy instead of lease. Very slick, at least if they had spread it out a little and not hit the same crew - my crew - so many times. Found some other poor saps in there too of course, and yanked their chips as well. Strange that so many of them were ours, but we did have one of the bigger compliments at the station I guess. Glad to be out of there, gave me the creeps following Jadat around the guts of that station, pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to do what he did.
